When you tell it to save the locations of your icons, it saves them in an ASCII 'DesktopOK.ini' file, in the same directory where 'DesktopOK.exe' is. You unzip it and double click on 'DesktopOK.exe' It just runs. zip file that contains a single file: 'DesktopOK.exe' Which doesn't install anything. Which looks like the same site you downloaded it from. Next I run Adwcleaner and it found many items primarily in the Register area for which I had it to delete ALL then it did a shutdown. Of course, I don't want anything "fixing" my machine since it was not broken (and was clear of adware and malware) before this access to the site.Īnyway, in summary: I removed the program using the Uninstall function. I did not select the "blinking offer" but evidently the download continued and without any further action on my part, it installed something regarding "fixing my machine". I tried to DL the DesktopOK using the referenced above link and after clicking the Download, it indicated that a specific unzip type file was needed (did not make note of the name). All I need is a basic method (program) to save the Desktop Screen Position of my Icons and also to be able to Restore them in the same position as saved. really easy to run - Save - Restore icons any time you wish. DesktopOK is a super little very veratile FREE program I've had it on my XP laptop for a few years now. ![]()
